My nephew, Lance (on the left), is a great musician. He has a band called Sidelined. They cut a CD and it's great! Here is a link so you can have a little listen: http://www.myspace.com/sidelinedrocks
He is the lead singer, plays the guitar, and writes all of their music.
Christopher (Lance and Chris are brothers) writes amazing poetry. On the night that another nephew, Ryan, died, Chris had been at the hospital with him and he was pretty upset. As the family was sitting together, he just started to write. In half an hour, he had this incredible poem written.
A casket's not a place to weep
But a throne to be the victor's seat
A token of the hardest time
A memoir of the most sublime
A death is not a time to mourn
But for the lost to be adorned
With gifts untold and crowns of gold
From the tales they unfold
Your hardships came and storms untame
Beat down on you while traveling through
But passing on means new days dawn
And better things will soon ensue
So drift away on midnight clouds
and soak into a glorious whim
To worlds anew where wrongs are few
As your part in life is through
Let good times roll and worries null
As angels bear you out of view
At heaven's gates your honor waits
Celestial life to start anew
Just watch for us from dawn till dusk
While you're gone come checking in
And give us guidance now and then
Looking up I'd love to see
Your bright eyes shining down on me
Watching for my foolish wrongs
In this world which I belong
And as you lay at loss today
Know our love will never stray
The best of lessons I have learned
Were from the scars that you have earned
We'll miss you, love you, for you pray
Following you on your way
And in your steps perhaps we may
See you on another day
But until then on your throne lay
And shine on this, your glory day
Be proud of all that you stand for
As to the clouds you freely soar.
